I live in Detroit. I want to take a group of school kids fishing?

I live in Detroit. I want to take a group of school kids fishing?
Anybody have thoughts on how you would do this. Most charters/all I could find, are 6 people. Either I find a 20 person fishing boat or fish from shore, but then need to gather 20 poles...This is for SouthEast Michigan, anyone help me brainstorm?

There are sooooooooo many lakes here in Michigan, I would call some local marina's tell them of the situation, see where that leads you. Generally those fella's know or can lead you to someone who does. OR, I don't know the distance you want to travel, but check out Michigan Lakes on the web, there is so much info there! Also, as for the pole's you may get them donated, check with the local KofC, Lions, whoever you have in your area. It's just for the one time. Once you start checking this out you'll be surprised what you'll find. Most people are happy to help especially 'schools' with the larger # of children. good luck and have fun.

call walmart and tell them what and when you are planing to do this and ask them for donations call the nearest marina and tell them your plans and ask if they might know of any body that might help you and call your states dnr and ask them

I would say the easiest way for a group of school kids is to find a trout farm or a fish farm. I'm sure there are some in the Detroit area. They will have all the tackle needed for rent. Usually if you have group of school kids they will offer a discount on rental for the tackle. It will be less expensive than a boat, they will have a good chance of catching fish. There is usually several different lakes to fish and some farms have different species in different lakes/ponds. I would say that's the easiest away to go about it.

GED test after one year of high school?

GED test after one year of high school?
Today I finaly realized that I need to step up and take charge of my life. I have to take a GED test becuase of the fact I missed credits from all 4 years of high school(I attended HS in florida missed by 5 credits) and was ready to leave high school. I found out that there is a school in detroit michigan where i am currently at giving the test on wednesdays 8 in the morn im ready to take this test in 4 hours im doing pretests on the net and im finding it kinda hard to remember every little thing about math. My main question is that if I get half of the math section right and I breeze through every thing else what are the chances of me passin this test? and Exactly how hard is this test?? (When I was in florida we had a test in high school called FCAT they made us take pretests and study HARD I failed every pretest , but when the real test came around and I got my scores back and got 4/5 on all my tests)

My husband wants to move the family back to Michigan (Detroit metro area)?

My husband wants to move the family back to Michigan (Detroit metro area)?
To make a long story longer, we met in Michigan (he was in Detroit, I was in Kalamazoo) and after having our first two children, we moved to the Atlanta metro area to "start over." (This was back when the economy really started going to pot in Michigan.) We've got a good thing going now (stable jobs, live in a nice area out in the country with an excellent school system, little or no crime, etc.) and now he's talking about moving back to Michigan to be closer to his family. He has one of those families where EVERYONE lives within 20 minutes or so of each other. Here in Georgia, the only family we have is my mom and step dad. My family has always been spread out. We're close-ish with each other, but we're not the Brady Bunch. What I remember of Detroit was very dark, depressed, closed gas stations on every corner, bums on the street corners, etc. This is making me sick thinking about it. He's talking about moving out farther away from the city (for those of you who are familiar with the area, he's thinking Shelby Township or somewhere similar). My point is, it doesn't matter WHERE you go in the area (even if you live in Grosse Point) you're *still* surrounded by the ghetto. (I realize not the whole city of Detroit is a ghetto, but my husband was raised differently than I was. We both grew up in lower-middle class blue collar families, but I was raised in the country vs. he, who was raised in the city. I do NOT want to raise my family in an area like that. I don't want to have to drive through some sh*thole section of the city any time we go anywhere. I'm getting nauseous thinking about that. That's not where I want to raise my family. We have a good thing going now (albeit we're far away from his family), but if it ain't broke, don't fix it, you know? I suggested moving somewhere half way between, but he said he didn't want to move somewhere just to look at different trees. What should we do? This is one of those situations where we're going to have to agree to disagree. What would you guys do if you were in our situation? I HATE DETROIT and the surrounding areas. :( Sorry I offended you, tartar. He and I just have different standards, I suppose. What he considers nice is what I consider borderline ghetto. I don't have a problem with any of the townships, really. My point was, to go ANYWHERE in the metro Det. area you have to drive through a seedy area of town. I don't want to be around that. I remember quite a lot about my many years in Michigan, and what bothers me the most are the endless streets (grids) of shi**y little run down houses that ALL look alike. i don't want to wake up every morning looking out my kitchen window and watching my neighbor patch his chain link fence, smoking a cigarette and beating his dog that's chained to the broken part of the fence. The only experience I have with the area (as far as living) is south Warren. And that's where we'd end up living, I can guarandamntee it.

Wow Thanks for pissing off all of Detroit here. Yep I live in the suburbs and while the city of Detroit is falling apart the burbs are not. Shelby Twsp, Novi, Wyandotte, Taylor, all great places to live among others. You have painted a picture here that is not accurate. Ghetto really? Stop being such a whinny brat. You are completely and total wrong about this area.

why is the g20 being held in Pittsburgh? I mean don't you think Michigan's Detroit is the beter place?
Detroit unemployment is over triple the USA's economy..as michigan is one of worst hit stater or possibly the worst hit state of this recession...so why is the g20 being held in Pittsburgh? Is our president sane ,now that he came up with is idea? Don't you think it be beter for him to have it there ,as quite a few people voted for him there? Dont you think it be good for him to go there as Detroit's schools are horrible? 75 percent drop out rate... the school system has fracken failed!

Who in the world wants to go to Detroit, it is a giant dump. Best thing to do is burn it down or sell it to Canada. Not that Pittsburgh is much better. Anyways Obama said he was going to bring all the jobs back to Detroit, yet another lie that complete rubes and morons fell for. LOL.

Detroit is a perfect example of the failures in our economic policys in the US, since Reagan, as we have gotten rid of so much of our manufacturing as the wealthy and big corporations continue to exploit cheap labor in poorer country's. Somehow, I don't think it would phase the people who are attending the G20 summit.

I live near Pittsburgh. I wish the G20 would go to Detroit...or anywhere but Pittsburgh. The city is closing down for three days. Protesters have been arrested already, for hanging off of our bridges. I see no benefit to having people wasting millions in tax payer dollars from 33 different countries. We get our world-wide recognition when we win Super Bowls. That is much more fun.

Too much crime in Detroit.

Which high school In Michigan should i go to?

Which high school In Michigan should i go to?
I'm the smartest now 7th grader at a charter school in detroit. I've been thinking about going to Detroit Country Day School {DCDS} or Cass Tech. I want to go to UCLA to become an actress. So I want a good academic and/or sports{cheerleading} scholarship. I know majority of the people that go to DCDS go to university's. However, I live on 7mile and Cass is closer to my home and all my friends are going there. I know most Technicians become stars in competitions or musical discovery's. So which one should i choose
